CHAMPIONING WPS IN MARTUNI COMMUNITY
September 2024 - We are thrilled to announce that Democracy Today NGO is launching a new project in the Martuni community of Gegharkunik province. The project is entitled "Championing WPS in Martuni Community, Gegharkunik Province: Implementing a Local Plan of Action on WPS."
The project's goal is to promote leadership development, economic empowerment, and opportunities for women from Martuni and displaced women from Nagorno-Karabakh through training, as well as encourage their active community participation. This project is supported by the Canadian Foundation for Local Initiatives (CFLI)
WOMEN IN SECURITY - STRONGER COUNTRY
October 2023 - The event on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) has been held for the female representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. The UNSC Resolution 1325 and related nine resolutions on WPS have been discussed. The project is supported by the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR).
DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL ACTION PLAN (LAP)
September 2023 - A two-days event was held with women leaders from Gegharkunik province on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda with the specific focus on developing local action plan (LAP) on UNSC Resolution 1325. The project is supported by The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).
ESTABLISHING LOCAL WOMEN, PEACE, AND SECURITY NETWORK
August 2023 - The DT team collaborated with locals in Gegharkunik province to create a Women, Peace, and Security network. Women leaders were empowered to draft a local action plan (LAP) on UNSCR 1325 and mobilize communities.
CONFERENCE: MAKING ARMENIA STRONGER. WOMEN, PEACE, AND SECURITY IN ARMENIA
July 2023 - A two-day event titled "Strengthening Armenia: Women, Peace, and Security" focused on highlighting the advancements made within Armenia to enhance the execution of the second National Action Plan aligned with UN Security Council Resolution 1325.
